China Pub Company is in a growth phase, actively looking for new properties in our four core markets of Hong Kong, Macau, Shanghai and Beijing. At the moment we operate four branded outlets in the food and beverage hospitality sector. China Pub Company is committed to developing up to 20 outlets consistent with our brands in the next two years. A further 30 to 40 are planned in the next five years. This growth will be achieved through acquisition and conversion of existing properties and the identification and development of new sites.
Each themed pub will have its own distinctive logo, design theme along with a promotional and marketing programme to support them. All outlets will be linked back to the specific brands and the umbrella brand, the Chinese sailing junk logo.
Strategy
Our growth strategy will be achieved through the development of new sites, along with acquisition and conversion of existing properties. It is our intention to concentrate on acquiring as many pubs as the respective key target markets will support before moving to other cities.
Entry into new premises will only be undertaken following an assessment of the local market, customer need and price sensitivity of the soundings. Underlying this will be the key financial criteria that the operation must achieve a 30% return on investment to the Company.
What we look for
We have an active site investigation team looking at potential sites in all our key markets. We are looking for properties or existing businesses that can be developed into one of many our branded outlets.
The Junk Pub operates in premises of 750 sq.ft. to 1,250 sq.ft., The Bull & Bear 2,000 to 4,000 sq.ft., Kennedy’s Irish 2,000 to 4,000 sq.ft. and Malone’s American Café 6,000 sq.ft. and above.
We will seek where possible to develop our outlets in clusters enabling efficiency in design, construction and in the administrative aspects of management, bar operation and food preparation. This shared model will enable the company to benefit from economies of scale in the purchasing of products and utilities as well as in maximising labour efficiency.
